Cormorans, Serbia

Like Ana would surely agree, its difficult to go to the Serbian PO and leave empty-handed ;) This WWF set dedicated to cormorans was issued in 2011. I might have mentioned before I am a big fan of Serbian Post issues, this being no exception :)

Belgrade Zoo

This is an FDC that doesn't cover any of the usual topic on Sunday Stamps, so I've decided to slide it in for the anything you wish theme this sunday...I've hurried a bit as I won't be online on sunday.

This set of stamps celebrates 75th anniversary of the Belgrade zoo, which is one of the oldest in Europe. The name of the city means white(beo) city(grad) and the zoo tries to accommodate as many unusual white species as possible. I think idea in itself is marvelous - my concern is that the zoo holds too many species in a small space, now I've also read that its the reason it is not accredited by any international zoo association...I wish something could be done about this, in fact about every crammed zoo there is. Otherwise the joyous moment of seeing such splendid animals can turn into a sad one within seconds...

I am sure there will be many great stamps shown for the open theme day, here!

Macedonian Fauna And Serbian Reptiles

I was left speechless when I found this surprise in my mailbox - Ana sent me a cover full of stamps representing fauna of her home country Macedonia, Ohrid Trout, Balkan Spadefoot Toad, Macedonian Crested Newt and Macedonian Stone Crayfish, a set issued in 2009. Inside a fantastic FDC of Serbia Post issued in 2012, perfect for a reptile lover <3

EUROPA 2012 - Serbia

It has been a while...and I have gotten an e-mail warning that my blog has been out of use for too long and i am risking 'annulment'...ok panic! heh. But as it is, though not at home I still have some beautiful covers on my usb to share :) Like this Europa cover from Serbia, thanks to dear Ana xx. In my opinion Serbian Post issues some of the most gorgeous stamps, and here is no exception - a patchwork of images that lure you to visit Serbia, from nature wonders to rich history and architecture. I hope to explore it better myself one day. Hvala Anchi!! :))

Year Of The Dragon, Serbia

A gorgeous Year Of The Dragon stamp issued by the Serbian Post, one of the best I've seen! Thats why I had to scan it separately to have a better view :) Also the Belgrade Central Office/Telephone Exchange. I was close to being sorry having to erase my address, as Ana has one of the handsomest handwritings ever..!

And oh what a joy, a set of stamps with reptiles from our former country Yugoslavia issued in 1962! I was a stamp collector before I became a postcard collector...and I still like receiving stamps on occasion, especially if they are animal sets. I have loads of stamps on paper at home waiting to be sorted...its a relaxing hobby once I stop working and spend the winter days at home.
